Home-style Thai curries, wok noodles and som tam at Village Market.
BangBang is a Thai kitchen at Village Market in Gigiri, cooking home-style recipes inspired by Grandma Mae's kitchen with Thai chefs at the stove. The menu runs from green, red and massaman curries and wok-fried pad thai and pad see ew to som tam papaya salad, tom yam and steamed dumplings, with signatures like lobster pad thai and red snapper in a sweet, sour and spicy three-flavour sauce. The dining room sits on a semi-open terrace under the market's canopy, hung with woven lanterns and greenery, and it's open daily for lunch and dinner.
"Possibly the best Thai food I’ve ever taken in Africa! This restaurant employs 2 Thai chef so it’s absolutely genuine taste! Pad Thai with tofu is so amazingly done! Lime, sweet paste on rice noodle comes with peanuts! Beef fried rice comes with amazing sunny egg and you can taste each rice apart! The tomyum is just spectacularly good! Located in an amazing mall right behind Johnnie walker spot! Definitely a must visit if you love Thai food!"
"I decided to try the restaurant on a whim when I was at Village Market and it ended up being such an amazing experience. I've never had Thai food before but the host was very patient and explained the various dishes to me. I had the pad Thai and nam manao drink. They were so so so good. I highly recommend. The food and drink were phenomenal, so flavourful and well balanced. Village Market is really far from where I live but I think the food is worth well the trip. Above all my favourite experience was probably the service. The host Nathaniel was so nice and really went above and beyond to make sure that my first experience at their restaurant and with Thai food in general was a good one. He was kind and patient and his recommendations were really good. The food also took a really short time to arrive and the portions are really generous as well. Also the restaurant is really beautiful, both the outside seating and the inside. I can't wait to go back and try more. I had such an amazing experience."
"The food? Ridiculous. Easily the best dumplings I’ve had in Nairobi so far. Would’ve loved to try the pork dumplings too, but we were only there for lunch... next time. The Gaeng Massaman Karee (Lamb Curry) though… whoa. Deep, rich, perfectly balanced. The cocktails hit quickly but paired beautifully with the food; no chaos, just harmony. The space feels intentional. Every detail, from the menu design to the décor, works together to create an experience, not just a meal. Definitely one of those spots you leave already planning your return."
