Habesha is one of Nairobi's longest-running and most popular Ethiopian restaurants, on Argwings Kodhek Road. Meals centre on shared platters of injera topped with slow-cooked stews, spiced tibs, goat and plenty of vegetarian dishes, eaten by hand in the traditional way, and the staff are happy to guide first-timers through the menu. It's open from breakfast to late every day, with delivery and takeaway, and it's a good choice for groups.

The goat was tender, rich, and deeply spiced in that slow-cooked, melt-in-your-mouth kind of way. The beef brought bold, savory depth, and the chicken was perfectly seasoned with just the right balance of warmth and comfort. And the shiro… wow. Silky, earthy, and ridiculously satisfying. The kind of dish you keep going back to even when you’re already full because it’s just that good. Everything was served in that classic Ethiopian style that makes you slow down, share, and actually enjoy what you’re eating. Big fan. And then there’s the coffee. This isn’t your grab-and-go gas station cup. This is rich, aromatic, full-bodied coffee that feels like it has a story behind it. Smooth, slightly smoky, and the perfect finale to an already incredible meal. If you’re anywhere near Nairobi and you like food that actually tastes like something, Habasha is a no-brainer. "First time at the premises and absolutely loved it. The staff was helpful as this was out of our zone,say for the less who have been to Ethiopia a few times. The white injera was sour and not for everyone but I devoured and enjoyed it. The mango juice was freshly squeezed . The coffee ceremony was a new and memorable experience,I will be back"
