La Salumeria is a long-running Italian restaurant tucked inside Dhanjay Apartments on Korosho Road, with regulars who have been coming back for decades. The rustic, warm dining room suits a slow meal with friends, and the kitchen is known for its wood-fired pizzas, fresh pastas like fettuccine bolognese and cannelloni, some of the best risotto in town, and classic desserts such as tiramisu. It's open daily from lunch through dinner, with delivery and takeaway too.
"My first visit to this restaurant was in 2000 and 26 years later the food is just as good as the first time. This spot has authentic italian food and the best risotto in Kenya bar none. They have the regular classics and there's a chalkboard of daily specials. This visit I had the beef carpacio and the seafood risotto and the tiramisu for dessert."
"A lovely Italian restaurant, though a clear signboard would really help — especially for those using GPS, as it’s tucked inside Dhanjay Apartments. Nevertheless, the food more than made up for it! Prior booking is recommended, as the place tends to get quite busy. Ambience was excellent, inviting with soft background music that made the dining experience even more pleasant. The complimentary breads and butter — a signature at good Italian restaurants — were absolutely delightful: fresh, hot, and good enough to be a course on their own. What an appetiser! The owner and waitstaff were warm and welcoming, which added to the overall experience. I ordered the Cordon Bleu — a must-try if you enjoy blue cheese — and it truly lived up to the hype. The Ricotta with sage and butter sauce was buttery and fragrant with fresh sage, slightly on the dry side, but still delicious overall. The Pesto with basil sauce was a bit too dry for my liking, and the flavour was average. The highlight was the Tiramisu — the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The food pairs beautifully with a glass of wine. It was a really good birthday dinner, and I’d definitely come back again to try more of their Italian delicacies. 🍷🇮🇹"
"My friends and I had a great time dining and trying the Italian food here. We tried the fettuccine bolognese, cannelloni, hot chocolate, and tiramisu. Everything was tasty and well-seasoned. To top it off, the ambiance was very romantic, relaxing, and perfect for a gathering. Highly recommend!"
