The Other Room is the all-day restaurant and terrace bar at The Social House on James Gichuru Road in Lavington, from the same group behind Copper and Inca. Its kitchen follows a farm-to-table approach with locally sourced, seasonal produce: wholesome plates, comfort-food favourites and plant-forward dishes, alongside signature cocktails and a curated wine list. Seating runs from a plant-filled dining room to a covered terrace and a lawn-side garden, there's a live band on some evenings, and it's open 24 hours for early risers and night owls alike.
"Amazing food and a really great ambience, I genuinely enjoyed my visit. The dishes were delicious, and the customer service was excellent, which is why I felt compelled to leave this review. However, there’s a serious concern with management that needs to be addressed. I initially ordered oat milk with my coffee, but the staff later informed me it was unavailable, which was completely fine,I switched to regular milk. When I received the bill, oat milk was still included. Upon asking about it, the staff told me not to worry and to just pay the remaining amount, as the cost of the oat milk would be deducted from their salary. This is very concerning. Employees should not be financially penalized for situations like this, especially when it stems from availability issues. I ended up paying for it anyway and left a tip because the staff were hardworking and handled the situation professionally but this policy is unfair and needs to be reconsidered. Management, please address this."
"I loved it... the live band made the atmosphere electrifying... everything is sleek, clean and unique... nice decor and nice cute humans serving us... the band had just a way of uniting everyone present and btw for once I felt security people are humans... I mean the guys directed us no rush with kindness no arrogance... haha this is petty but its like they feed the security guys well 🤣... everyone I came across there was warm..."
"This is that rare instance where I was moved to stop what I was doing to render a review in real time. Still sitting at the table, having just completed my meal, I can't hold back my excitement regarding my experience at Social House-The Other Room. I live in Southern California, the land of salads, but I can safely say I just had the best Chicken Cobb Salad of my lifetime! This fantastic meal was only rivaled by the all-around fantastic service I received upon entry. There were three staffers however who went above and beyond the standards of first rate service. Donella, the manager, led the way as an amazing floor general, checking in and making sure all culinary needs were being met. Elizabeth followed up with a great smile and warm hospitality. And my server Maurine was fantastic in her own right keeping me abreast of all menu options and providing swift delivery of food/beverages with steady follow-up. The vibe here is highly comfortable yet uber classy. I'm an instant fan, and so too shall you be once you give this gem location the shot it deserves! Which is to say: I enthusiastically recommend!"
